Michael Eugene Bishop, 66, of Belle Center, passed away Thursday evening, Jan. 9, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, from pneumonia.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Jan. 24, 1947, to the late George and Ella May (Smith) Bishop. Mike was raised by Hamer and Gladys Dipple as his mother died when he was eight days old.
He has lived in the Men’s Residential Home in Belle Center for the past 28 years where he received loving sacrificial care by the staff.
RTC Industries was a vital part of Mike’s life. He worked there 38 years alongside many friends and caring supervisors. He attended Rushsylvania Church of Christ and previously attended Belle Center Church of Christ. Mike loved to collect things — especially radios, flashlights and decks of cards.
Mike was always eager to meet new people, shake their hand, ask their name and if they had any kids. He was always happy and very generous with smiles and hugs. He will be missed by many, especially the Betty Fulkerson family and the entire Varner family with whom he spent holidays and birthdays.
Pastor Lynn Cleaveland conducta a funeral service T 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial follows in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to RTC Industries, 36 S. County Road 32, Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
