Harry E. Ellis Sr., 74, of Kenton, passed away at his residence at 12:57 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1939, to the late Meade Ellis and Ollie Pumell. He also was preceded in death by his sons, Robert Ellis and Keith Ellis; a brother, Richard Ellis, and three sisters, Hazel Ellis, Janice Baum and Corabelle Furr.
He married the former Florence Coyer on Dec. 21, 1959, and they divorced.
On Nov. 4, 1995, he married Connie Shirk and she survives in Kenton, along with his sons: Harry (Linda Bailey) Ellis Jr., James Ellis and Mark Ellis, all of Kenton; a daughter, Bridget Ellis of Kenton; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A United States Army veteran, Harry retired from Rockwell International as a welder.
He was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 1994 and the ABC Bowling Association. He also was a member of the Kenton Moose Lodge 428 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2163.
He was an avid bowler and softball player. He also enjoyed playing pool, horseshoes and football for Kenton High School.
The Rev. R. Scott Johnson officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home, Kenton, where visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Burial is in Wolfcreek Cemetery, with AMVETS Post 1994 Honor Guard conducting a military service.
