James E. “Jim” Organ, 78, of North Lewisburg, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in North Lewisburg on July 19, 1935, to the late Henry E. and Amanda Spain Organ. He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Elizabeth Organ; and his siblings, Bill, Lee and George Organ, Crystal Dooley, Emma Huffman and Ethel Summer.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Hazel Castle Organ; sons, Mike Organ of North Lewisburg and Mark Organ of Urbana; grandson, Jeff (Brooks) Organ; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Caden and Collin Organ; sisters, Gladys Rhoads and Nancy Stuart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye (Jim) Ferryman, Jean (Don) Jones, Gladys Castle and Ellen Organ; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A 1953 graduate of North Lewisburg High School, Jim retired from Siemens in 1996 after 42 years as a shipping clerk. He attended the Urbana Free Will Baptist Church.
He enjoyed walleye and salmon fishing and mushroom hunting.
Jim loved to spend time with his friends, Bill and Helen Murray, on Friday nights, eating pizza and playing cards, family time and especially time with his grandson and his great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Grant Cordell officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg, where visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
