Lyla June DeLong, 89, of Lewistown, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 9, 2013, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
She was born in Belle Center on Oct. 11, 1924, to the late Wilbur and Hazel Neal Spurgeon.
On May 30, 1946, she married James E. DeLong in Belle Center and he preceded her in death in 1982. She also was preceded in death by a son, James A. DeLong, on Dec. 19, 2010.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Alfred) Park of West Liberty and Joyce (David) Branson of Bellefontaine; six granddaughters, Shellie Erwin, Nikki Legge, Tiff Epps, Jami Epps, Stacey DeLong and Lucy LeVan; 16 great-grandchildren, Brittnee, Garret, Gage, Jameson, Drew, Aubrie, Ashley, Jake, Reese, Carter, Luke, Jazmyn, Dylan, Jahkya, Jaydaka and Jazander; and two great-great-grandsons, Sawyer and Stephen.
She was retired from Indian Lake High School, where she worked in the cafeteria for 23 years. She enjoyed feeding and watching her birds, especially the hummingbirds and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A woman who touched many lives, she was loved by all who met her and will be missed by many.
The Rev. Bryan Meadows conducts a funeral at noon Wednesday at Huntsville United Methodist Church, with visitation two hours prior. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given in her name to the Quilt Ministry, c/o Huntsville United Methodist Church.
