Betty E. Collingsworth, 83, of West Liberty, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 7, 2013, in the Green Hills Retirement Community, West Liberty.
She was born in Springfield on May 25, 1930, a daughter of the late Elmer L. and Mary C. Wilson Kimball. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ben M. Collingsworth, whom she married May 25, 1957, and who served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned the Bronze Star; son, Parks LeRoy Collingsworth, USMC; and sister, Ellen Kimball Curtis.
Survivors include her children, Paul (Bobbi Jo) Collingsworth of Marion, N.C., Cathy (Doug) Hoffman of West Liberty and Dessie (Fred) Warner of Akron; siblings, Russell (Nancy) Kimball of Springfield, Joe (Sue) Kimball of St. Paris, Pat (Frank) Gladich of San Pedro, Calif., and Roberta “Bobbie” Heinz of Mentor; grandchildren, Jason Hollifield, J.R. Hollifield, Jennifer (Dylan) McKinney, Jamie (Richard) Joyner, Jon E. Collingsworth, Kyle (Teresa) Hoffman, Christina Hoffman, Greg (Jen) Warner and Ben (Chynna) Warner; great-grandchildren, Ariel, Ethan, Christopher, Hunter, Michael, Kalib, Caleb, JoJo, Gavin, Madelyn, Hunter, Dominique, Madison, Hannah, Levi, Daniel, Matthew, Kendal, Kasey and one on the way in April 2014; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Eagles Aerie 397 and had been a STNA at numerous nursing facilities in the area, but her greatest enjoyment was being an extremely proud grandmother.
Pastor Cheryl Siegenthaler officiates a celebration of life at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home, Springfield, where visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is in Rose Hill Burial Park.
