Robert Marion Ashbaugh, 71, of Jimmerson Lake, Angola, Ind., died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Van Wert on May 18, 1942, to the late Christian B. and Loretta N. Urton Ashbaugh. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Frances Paige.
On Feb. 15, 1992, he married Katherine A. Chesshir in Van Wert and she survives, along with children, Melissa (Neal) Durbin of Morriston, Fla., Melanie Smith of Defiance, Mark (Renee) Ashbaugh of Ft. McCoy, Fla., Lisa (Brent) Kemerly of Indianapolis, Matthew Ashbaugh of Defiance and Daniel (Rhonda) Brooks of Corunna; brothers and sisters, David (Patti) Ashbaugh of Convoy, Louise Kongar and Sandy Hartman, both of Van Wert, Anna (Dave) Dyer of Harrod, and Donald (Kendra) Ashbaugh of Payne; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ashbaugh worked at Moore Business Forms/RR Donnelly of Angola, before retiring in 1997. He then went on to work at Dayton Power & Light Company in Bellefontaine until retiring in 2011.
A veteran medic of the United States Army, he was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Fremont.
Robert was an avid woodworker, building two homes, along with many pieces of furniture, but his true enjoyment was spending time with his family.
Per his request, no calling or services will take place.
