Marian Elaine Eastman

Marian Elaine Eastman, 90, of West Mansfield, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton, following an extended illness.

She was born in Mt. Victory on June 3, 1922, to the late Melvin and Lula Lowe Fogle.

On Feb. 12, 1942, she married Benjamin Oliver “Ben” Eastman near Byhalia and he preceded her in death Dec. 10, 2005. She also was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Rose; a granddaughter-in-law, Rose Rose; a great-grandson, Harley Doll; a sister, Lavere Kavanaugh; and two brothers, Lowell and Francis Fogle.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Jane Rose of Wapakoneta; two grandchildren, Tina Cabellero and William Rose; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Chloe Linson of Belle Center; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A loving homemaker and a farmer’s wife, Marian was a faithful member and longtime Sunday School teacher at the West Mansfield Friends Church and was a former member of the Rhoda Circle at Rushsylvania.

A 1940 graduate of Byhalia High School, she was an auxiliary Gideon and formerly held membership with the Rushcreek Grange. She was a longtime server for the West Mansfield Thursday Community Meals and held a deep concern for the welfare of others.

Marian enjoyed reading about frontier life and especially enjoyed baking bread.

The Rev. Jim Gardner officiates a funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, West Mansfield, where visitation is two hours prior. Burial is in Byhalia Cemetery.
