Myrtle M. Clapsaddle, 86, of Kenton, died at 8:05 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Logan Acres Care Center.
She was born Nov. 18, 1926, in West Mansfield, a daughter of William M. and Myrtle (Fox) Bolen. She married Harlow “Bill” Clapsaddle on Nov. 18, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1988.
Surviving are two sons, Don (Lori) Clapsaddle of Kenton and Tom Clapsaddle of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Mickey Clapsaddle of Kenton; foster children, Colleen (Dale) Hudson of Hudson, Ohio, Charlotte Cornett of Kentucky, Dorothy (Mike) White of Florida and Tina DeLong of Kenton; three grandchildren, Amy Albert of Kenton, Emily Clapsaddle Seiler of Kenton and Dustin Albert of Kenton; numerous foster grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Logan and Sydney Albert, Konner Alban and Kennedie Farthing; a sister, Edith McCarty of Bellefontaine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were a son, Terry Clapsaddle on April 26, 2002; a great-granddaughter, Macie Marie Alban; three brothers, Art Bolen, Jesse Bolen and an infant brother; and three sisters, Stella Ramsey, Mary Coons and Bessie Wolf.
During World War II, she worked for the Curtiss-Wright Corp., helping build U.S. Navy dive bomber aircraft. The homemaker and her husband owned and operated Clapsaddle Dry Cleaners. They also were foster parents to more than 30 children in Kenton. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending auctions.
Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Schindewolf Stevens Stout Funeral Home, 200 E. Columbus St., Kenton. Pastor Craig Mansfield will officiate services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardin County Council on Aging and the American Diabetes Association.
