Ronald S. Sarson, 94, of West Liberty, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at Green Hills Community, West Liberty.
He was born in Stockport, England, on July 30, 1918, a son of the late Harry S. and Ellen Dove Sarson.
On Oct. 1, 1941, he married Ora A. Chewning in Dubuque, Iowa, and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2008. He also was preceded in death by a son, John Stephen Sarson, on June 26, 2009; and a son-in-law, Jerry Wappelhorst, on May 7, 2009.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol Wappelhorst of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Keely (Steve Titus) Blair and Eric Wappelhorst, both of Bellefontaine, Ryan (Angela) Sarson of Piqua, Brad Sarson of Huber Heights; and great-grandchildren, Zach and Jesse Titus, Drake Robinson, Cooper Wemmer and Adeyn, Hunter and Madison Sarson.
A World War II veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, he was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and enjoyed stamp collecting and photography.
He enjoyed spending time with his family.
The Revs. Robert L. Ficks III, Tim West and Nancy Hardin officiate a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Epiphany, 230 Scioto St., Urbana. Inurnment is in St. John’s Episcopal Church Columbarium, Dubuque, Iowa, at a later date.
