M. Darlene Lenko


M. Darlene Lenko, 57, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday morning, April 9, 2013, at her home.

She was born in Steubenville on Dec. 14, 1955, to Martha J. Dornbush Barker, who survives in Bloomingdale, and the late Robert A. Barker.

On July 13, 1974, she married Steven L. Lenko at the Unionport Christian Church in Unionport and he survives, along with three children, Chad A. Lenko, Eric S. (Bethany) Lenko and Heather L. (Stephen) Stutz, all of Lewis Center; one grandson, Lenk O. Stutz; two sisters, Debra Hukill and Letitia (Don) Bell, both of Bloomingdale; three brothers, Ralph (Carrie) Barker of Bloomingdale, Robert (Kathy Jo) Barker of Wintersville and Randy (Summer) Barker of Columbiana; mother- and father-in-law, Andrew and Myrtle Lenko; one sister-in-law, Melissa (Mike) Robinson of Powell; three brothers-in-law, Bryan (Jody) Lenko of Delaware, Ohio, Allen (Emily) Lenko of Hilliard and Miles (Nickie) Lenko of Bloomingdale; and several nieces and nephews.

A 1974 graduate of Wintersville High School, she was assistant treasurer for Indian Lake School District, where she had worked for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point.

She loved being with her family and friends and enjoyed sewing baby blankets, making alterations for wedding dresses, and creating delicious and beautiful wedding cakes. She also loved swimming and taking vacations.

Pastors Karen Blackburn and Jim Ellington officiate a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Indian Lake Community Church, where visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday. A memorial service at the Unionport Christian Church is scheduled for 3 p.m. April 20, with visitation two hours prior.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indian Lake Community Church Daycare and Good Samaritans.
