James P. Roth, 72, of Quincy, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Feb. 28, 1941, a son of the late Benjamin Sr. and Anna Roth.
On May 26, 1962, he married the former Sally Jane Blair in Pickerelltown and she preceded him in death July 13, 1987.
He is survived by children, David (Gina) Roth of Bellefontaine, Annette Roth of Sidney and Beverly Roth of Quincy; grandchildren, Sally Roth, Dakota Yoest, Ashley Roth, Michael Gudger, Amber Roth and Faith Ann Roth; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Roth of Findlay; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Shirley Slicer of Quincy.
He was a factory worker at Merchants for 26 years and at NEX for 9 years. He also worked part-time maintaining the roadside rest area along U.S. Route 33.
He was a member of Buckeye Gospel Barn, where he was a board member for several years and was known as “Rawhide.” He enjoyed antique cars and car shows.
Pastor Bobbi Allen officiates a graveside service at 10 a.m. Monday at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Champaign County. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine.
