Isabelle Wicker Pusey, 94, of Orchard Island, Lakeview, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Dayton, to the late Frank E. and Isabella Mergy Wicker. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Pusey.
She is survived by four children, Sandra (Anthony) Ranallo of Bath, Frank (Charlotte) Pusey of Lewistown, Eugene Pusey of DeGraff and Glenn (Linda) Pusey of Farmington, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Miller of Twinsburg; a stepson, Ronald L. (Merry Lu) Pusey of West Liberty; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Ranallo, Christopher Ranallo, Darcy Ranallo, Sheena Snapp, Lance Pusey, Jessica Turley, Karen Contner, Margaret Sanders and Michael Pusey; five great-grandchildren, Ethan Snapp, Maxwell Solomon, Elizabeth Ordean, Erica Ordean and Christopher Ordean; and one sister, Sylvia Wicker Reid of Cincinnati.
A graduate of Mother of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Our Lady of Cincinnati College. She helped run Wicker Resort on Orchard Island for many years and was a retired teacher. During her career, she worked at Indian Lake Local Schools and Waynesfield-Goshen Schools. She also worked as a substitute teacher throughout Logan County and individually with students until she retired after 40 years in education. She was a member of Galilee Lutheran Church in Russells Point. She was also an active member of Kairos Prison Ministries, Friends Serving Friends of Indian Lake, Indian Lake Watershed Project, Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce, Logan County Historical Society, and was a co-founder of the Indian Lake Historical Society. She was also actively involved with the Indian Lake Our Daily Bread. She enjoyed watching sports especially the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and OSU Buckeyes. A longtime resident of Indian Lake, her two greatest loves were her family and the Indian Lake area.
The Rev. Jim Ellington conducts a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Friday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, where visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
