Lyle Erwin Pratt, 88, of West Liberty, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2013, in West Liberty, surrounded by family in his home.
Lyle was born in Muskegon, Mich., on Nov. 13, 1924, a son of the late George Stuart and Electa Pearl Fredenberg Pratt.
He was married to Ellen Sells from 1945 until her death in 1993. He also was preceded in death by sisters, Edris Meadley Chapel and Barbara Pratt.
In 1997, he married Mary Ann King of West Liberty and she survives, along with his six children, Ronald (Suzi) Pratt of Grand Rapids, Mich., YuVonne Ostrowski, Larry (Debbie) Pratt and Mary Ellen (Jim) Bush, all of Muskegon, Mich., Debbie (Rex) Heiser of Zeeland, Mich., and Sherry (Chuck) Krueger of Holland, Mich.; six stepchildren, D. Herb (Nancy) King of Rockville, Ind., Kathleen (Rick) Martin of Kitchener, Ontario, Marilyn (Doug) Stahl of Lima, Philip (Kendra) King of Strongsville, John (Cindy) King of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Sam (Danelle) King of Indianapolis; 41 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Lyle was an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked at Continental Motors for 43 years, retiring in 1986.
A member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Muskegon, Mich., he attended the Bethel Mennonite Church in West Liberty and Sunny Breeze Christian Fellowship of Arcadia, Fla.
Lyle traveled America extensively, loved teaching Sunday School, listening to music and spending time with his family.
Visitation is one hour prior to a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, Mich. He will be laid to rest in Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Muskegon, Mich.
