Opal C. Sproul, 90, died at 10:09 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Otterbein Cridersville.
She was born in Bellefontaine on Jan. 31, 1922, a daughter of the late Paul and Goldie Johns Snook.
On June 8, 1941, she married Russell E. Sprout in Bellefontaine and he died Sept. 12, 2004. She also was preceded in death by a brother, John Paul Snook; a sister, Laura Elizabeth Walton; and a grandson, Andrew Chiles.
Survivors include four daughters, Victoria “Vicki” (Milo) Agnew of Waynesfield, Marsha (Walt) Mangen of St. Marys, Darlene (David) Chiles of Waynesfield and Denise (Don) Green of Celina; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Bellefontaine High School graduate, she was a member of the Waynesfield Baptist Church, where she played the piano until January 2012 and was a member of the ABW Ministries and served on the music committee. She then played piano at Otterbein Cridersville when she was able.
A homemaker, Opal had worked as a clerk at Gregg’s Department Store in Lima.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield. The Rev. Don Smith officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waynesfield Baptist Church, with calling one hour prior. Burial is in Willow Branch Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Otterbein Cridersville Benevolent Fund.
