Suzie Carolyn Rafferty Baxter, 69, of Urbana, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in her home surrounded by family.
She was born in Urbana on Nov. 2, 1943, the daughter of the late Millard Herbert and Helen Louise Edwards Rafferty. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Edward Baxter.
She is survived by daughters, Heather (Larry Savill) Baxter of Tucson, Ariz., and Suellen (Stephen) Greer of Clayton, N.C.; grandchildren, Ian Baxter-Stewart of Tucson, Destiny DeHart at Eastern Carolina University and Rhyannon Baxter-Savill of Tucson; stepgranddaughter, Mackenzie Greer of Clayton, N.C.; brothers, David Rafferty of Choctaw Beach, Fla., and Steven Rafferty of Columbus; numerous nieces and nephews, including special niece and friend, Gail Davidson of Springfield and special great-nephew, Morgan Davidson of Springfield.
Suzie enjoyed traveling, reading, biking, sewing, visiting friends and family, walking on the beach and bowling.
She had a passion for introducing the world of books and reading to children.
Suzie was a member of the Eagles in Springfield.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, where Pastor Karen Montgomery officiates a funeral at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Somerford Cemetery.
