Steven Wayne Leiss, 61, of Quincy, passed away at 4:07 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, surrounded by family and friends at his home.
He was born in Sidney on Sept. 2, 1951, to Lova Ella Watkins Leiss, who survives in Sidney, and the late Clarence Elmer Leiss.
On Dec. 17, 2010, he married Yvonne Annette Ward Fair, who survives in Quincy, along with three sons, Jared Nathan (Megan) Leiss of Redford, Mich., and Blake Allen Fair and Blaine Andrew Fair, both of Lima; one daughter, Jennifer Lynn Leiss of Sidney; six beautiful grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Leiss of Sidney and Mike (Deb) Leiss of Anna; and two sisters, Darlene (Kenny) Maxwell of Jackson Center and Lois (Gibby) Gilbert of Lima.
Steve graduated in 1969 from Sidney High School and attended ITT Tech in Columbus. He served in the National Guard for six years.
He was an electrician for 10 years at Copeland in Sidney, retired in 2006 after 25 years at General Dynamics in Lima, and was a farmer. He was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Montra.
Steve loved spending time with his family, living on the farm, fishing, and working outdoors.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Eichholtz, Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 214 W. Pike St., Jackson Center. Pastor Shannon Vogelezang officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior. Per Steve’s request, his body will be cremated.
