Philip Gene Westfall, 81, a longtime resident of Marysville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Heartland of Marysville.

He was born in North Lewisburg on May 2, 1931, to the late Charles and Louie Eaton Westfall. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Westfall; and a sister, Mildred Hall.

On Dec. 1, 1951, he married his wife of almost 61 years, the former Alma Lou Smith, at the Methodist parsonage in Marysville and she survives, along with two sons, Chris Westfall of Brandon, Fla., and Curtis (Kathryn) Westfall of Marysville; three grandchildren, Erin (Allal) Damiro, Nicholas (fiancée Hannah Chestnut) Westfall and Olivia Westfall; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Aidan; a brother, James (Phyllis) Westfall of Carson City, Nev.; and many nieces and nephews and good friends.

A 1949 graduate of North Lewisburg High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired as advertising manager from AcuSport in Bellefontaine where he worked for 18 years. He was a former associate of O.M. Scott and Sons, where he was transportation manager for well over 20 years.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed all types of game hunting using bow and arrow and shotguns. His favorite pastime was trapshooting on weekends for many years with good friends. He also found great pleasure in mushroom hunting and fishing.

He was known for his meticulous care of small engines and his automobiles.

During his retirement, his daily priority was dining with his good friends at Windsor Senior Center.

A neighborly, hospitable and generous man, he will be best remembered as one who took pride in his home and gave loving care to his family.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Underwood Funeral Home, Marysville, where a funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial is beside his parents at Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Meals Program at Windsor Senior Center.
