Daniel E. Welty, 85, formerly of Wilmington, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, in The Inn at Halcyon Village, Marysville.
He was born in Urbana on Aug. 10, 1927, a son of the late Daniel Ernest and Ruth Reid Welty. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Welty.
He is survived by his brother, John (Bettijo) Welty of North Lewisburg; nephews, Daniel Patrick (Cheryl) Welty of Marysville and Jerry (Jodi) Welty of Zanesfield; a great-niece and nephews, Jenna Welty of Zanesfield, John Russell Welty of Charlotte, N.C., and Joshua Welty of Zanesfield; and special friend, Sam Shingler and wife of Wilmington.
Daniel served his country in the U.S. Navy, graduated from Xavier University with a degree in marketing, and after many years as a regional salesman, retired from International Harvester.
Daniel enjoyed playing softball, gardening, walking and spending time with the McDonald’s Breakfast Group in Wilmington.
A graveside service is at 11 a.m. Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg, with Pastor Joyce McKeever officiating.
