Robert Philip “Feeney” Palmer Sr., 69, of Battle Creek, Mich., formerly of Lakeview, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, while at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, Mich.
He was born in Springfield on Jan. 2, 1943, a son of the late Kenneth L. and Myrtle A. Teach Palmer.
On Dec. 16, 1961, he married the former Carolyn Shigley and she preceded him in death. On July 13, 1968, he married the former Mary “Coni” Wolfe at the Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point, and she survives. He also was preceded in death by two sons, James H. Rosenburg and Kenneth L. Palmer; a granddaughter, Kristi Nolan; and two brothers, Jerry L. Palmer and Ronald L. Palmer.
He is survived by four children, Carla (Rick) Nolan of Bellefontaine, Kathy Blosser of Orlando, Fla., Robert (Lesa) Palmer of Russells Point and Larry (Amanda) Palmer; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Hill and Shirley Clark, both of Russells Point, and Kay Reprogle of Lakeview; and a brother, Donald Palmer of Lakeview.
Feeney attended Stokes Local Schools in Lakeview and was a member of Hope Nazarene Church, FOE 299, and Polish National Alliance, all in Battle Creek, Mich., Indian Lake FOE 3615, and Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533, and he was a former member of Sons of AMVETS Post 39.
He enjoyed restoring antique and classic cars, riding motorcycles, watching NASCAR, playing euchre and darts, camping and traveling. He loved being with his family and his two dogs, Max and Smokey.
Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, followed by a funeral at 5 p.m.
