Dorothy M. Schafer, 90, of Lima, died at 9:17 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born in Cleveland on July 23, 1922, a daughter of the late Theodore Lewis and Genivieve Manzler Dahlke. She married Fred J. Schafer, who preceded her in death, along with a daughter, Cynthia May Schafer Stoneburner; a brother, Everett Dahlke; and a sister, Donna Craig.
She is survived by two sons, Fred J. Schafer Jr. of Elida and Karl E. (Lora) Schafer of West Liberty; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Betty) Dahlke of Lima and Theodore (Betty) Dahlke of Lima; and one sister, Arline Daly of Florida.
Mrs. Schafer retired from Washington McKinley School as a cafeteria worker and was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends. Dorothy was very loving and giving; always thinking how she could help others.
Visitation is two hours prior to a memorial service at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, officiated by Richard Riggs. Burial of the cremated remains is in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
