Ethel Florence Rumer Carpenter, 88, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away Nov. 5, 2012, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by her family at her Florida home.
She was born in Rushsylvania on Oct. 28, 1924, to the late Ross E. Rumer and Chloe V. Predmore Shoemaker.
She was married to James Thomas “Buster” Jacobs, who passed away in 1946, and Richard Lee Carpenter, who passed away in 1987.
Surviving are her sons, Larry A. (Laura) Jacobs and Mark D. (Lorene) Carpenter; daughters, Cheryl D. (Richard) Whitney and Lori D. Carpenter; a sister, Cleta Horne of Bellefontaine; stepsisters, Edna Moore and Agnes Koger; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Arrangements were handled by the Good Earth Crematory in Bradenton, Fla.
Memorial contributions may be made to a hospice of the donors’ choices and the American Cancer Society.
