Walter J. “Jack” Widmark Sr., 76, of Lakeview, passed away early Thursday morning, Nov. 8, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Lima on April 8, 1936, to the late Harold and Alma Paden Widmark. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Jeanneret, Audrey Alspaugh and Louise Winks; and three brothers, Russell, Robert and Dale.
On Sept. 24, 1959, he married the former Peggy McNeal in Lima and she survives, along with a daughter, Tina Savage of Belle Center; two sons, Stewart Widmark of Mechanicsburg and Jack Widmark Jr. of Zanesfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Plummer of Lima and Linda (James) Rice of Elida; and several nieces and nephews.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he formerly worked for Airstream in Jackson Center, Rockwell in Kenton, and Excello Corporation in Lima.
He was a member of the Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39, Indian Lake FOE 3615 and Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533, all of Lakeview. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards.
Jack was a great dad who loved being with his family and will be greatly missed.
Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, where a funeral begins at 11 a.m. Monday.
Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery, with military honors by the Logan County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
