Dorothy E. Jones

Dorothy E. Jones, 95, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Deer Creek of Wimberley, in the presence of her loving family and hospice.

She was born Nov. 16, 1916.

Dorothy lived each day to the fullest and had a zest for life. She always made an unforgettable impression on everyone she met.

She spent her young life in Bellefontaine, where she was a cheerleader in high school and participated in sports. After she graduated from high school, she attended a two-year college and received her associate degree in office administration.

During World War II, she spent a brief time in both Florida and San Diego, where she had family. There she met and married Latham F. Jones, a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy.

She always said that although she was born in Ohio, she got to Texas as fast as she could. She spent most of her married life in Dallas and Denton and was blessed with two children, Julie and Latham; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Cole.

Later she moved to the Texas Hill Country and lived in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, for 20 years. She loved dancing, music, the outdoors and all creatures great and small.

She never met a stranger and loved meeting and getting to know new people. She embodied love and joy and happiness and blessed the lives of her children and friends that knew her. She will always be loved and remembered.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Latham F. Jones; her father, Clifford Eaton; her mother, Ruth Beard Eaton; her brother, Richard Eaton; and sisters, Alice Ebert and Jean DeLaughter.

She is survived by her two children, Julie A. Jones of Wimberley, Texas, and Latham F. Jones of Argyle, Texas; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Jones and Cole Jones of Argyle, Texas.

Services were Oct. 19 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Wimberley, Texas, through arrangements by Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, Texas.
