Ohio to increase lethal injection drug dosages

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio said Monday it's boosting the dosages of its lethal injection drugs even as it stands by the January execution of an inmate who made snorting and gasping sounds that led to a civil rights lawsuit by his family and calls for a moratorium.

Girl diagnosed with rare case of diphtheria

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A girl in southwest Ohio was diagnosed this month with diphtheria, an illness that has been extremely rare in the U.S. since children started being vaccinated against it in the 1920s, health officials said.
