Girlfriend of Wal-Mart police shooting victim dies

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — The girlfriend of a man who was fatally shot by police at an Ohio Wal-Mart has been killed in a car crash.

Authorities say 26-year-old Tasha Thomas of Fairborn was a passenger in a vehicle that flipped into a yard and hit a tree in Dayton after traveling at speeds nearing 100 mph.

The Montgomery County coroner's office says the driver killed in the crash Thursday was 30-year-old Frederick Bailey, of Dayton.

Thomas' attorney Anthony VanNoy says his client went into the Wal-Mart with John Crawford III the day he was shot and that the two dated.

Crawford was shot Aug. 5 while carrying an air rifle in the store. Police said they believed he had a real firearm.
