NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — A former central Ohio high school band director arrested for inappropriate conduct with three students has been sentenced to four years and 10 months in prison.
Thirty-three-year-old Anthony Miller of Westerville pleaded guilty in July to 13 counts, including felony sexual battery and misdemeanor sexual imposition.
Authorities say the charges against Miller reflect his conduct with three female students at Newark High School, where he worked as an assistant band director. Miller was arrested in February and was suspended without pay by Newark City Schools.
Miller's attorney Brad Koffel says because the sentence is less than five years, Miller is eligible under Ohio law to petition for early release after six months. Koffel says he expects his client will do so.
