CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland police say they have arrested a man who is accused of setting a cat on fire and brutally abusing it.
Police arrested 26-year-old D'erise Carson on Thursday. He is accused of slamming a cat into the ground repeatedly and then setting it on fire with lighter fluid earlier this year.
The cat died from its injuries, and police issued a warrant for Carson's arrest on May 30.
Carson faces several animal cruelty charges and is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning. No attorney was listed for him.
Carson's arrest follows another northeast Ohio animal cruelty case.
Akron police arrested a man Wednesday for kicking a stray cat into the air, videos of which went viral on the Internet.
