Ohio band director to be sentenced on sex charges

NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — A former central Ohio band director arrested for inappropriate conduct with three students is scheduled to be sentenced in Licking County.

Thirty-three-year-old Anthony Miller of Westerville pleaded guilty in July to 13 counts, including felony sexual battery and misdemeanor sexual imposition.

The prosecution says Miller faces a maximum of more than 34 years in prison when he is sentenced Friday.

Authorities say the charges against Miller reflect his conduct with three female students at Newark High School, where he worked as an assistant band director. The charges refer to conduct dating back to August 2010 and as recent as June 2013.

He was arrested in February and was suspended without pay by Newark City Schools.
