DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Police say skeletal remains were found by some children in a wooded area in southwestern Ohio.
Dayton police say the children found the remains Wednesday and their parents called police.
Police say the bones apparently had been in the area for some time and were partially covered in mud and dirt.
A forensic anthropologist is scheduled to examine the remains next week at the Montgomery County coroner's office in Dayton.
Coroner's officials could not say whether the bones belonged to a male or female or provide an age. The coroner's office also has not determined a cause of death.
