EATON, Ohio (AP) — An attorney in western Ohio has been sentenced to 4 ½ years in prison for stealing more than $200,000 from clients.
James Thomas Jr. apologized to his victims in court during his sentencing Tuesday in Eaton, west of Dayton.
The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/1oEM51r ) reports that Thomas pleaded no-contest April 30 to charges that included three felony counts of theft from an elderly person or disabled adult.
He also was ordered to pay more than $208,000 in restitution to the four clients from whom he stole money between 2007 and 2013. Investigators determined Thomas took the money from their bank accounts.
Thomas told investigators that he stole some of the money to support an addiction to the stimulant ephedrine.
