DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Police in southwest Ohio are looking for three men after the shooting of a bus driver they say survived with the apparent help of a biblical booklet in his shirt pocket.
The driver told police early Monday the men shot at him three times, with one shot hitting his leg. Forty-nine-year-old Rickey Wagoner told police he fought back, and the men ran away.
He said in a 911 call that his chest felt like he was hit by a sledgehammer, but that he didn't think the bullets got through the booklet in his shirt pocket. Dayton police say two small-caliber bullets hit the booklet called "The Message," which has Bible verses in contemporary language.
The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/1bICqAQ ) reports that Wagoner is recovering in a hospital.
