Surveillance shows SUV linked to Cleveland shooting

CLEVELAND (AP) — Surveillance footage shows a sport utility vehicle that Cleveland police believe was used by the person who killed a 5-year-old girl and shot her mother in the head as they sat in a vehicle in a residential neighborhood.

Police say a man got out of the SUV and opened fire Sunday night, then fled. The Northeast Ohio Media Group ( ) reports a neighbor's surveillance footage shows the green SUV pass by, but the position of the camera blocks the view of the shooter.

Police found the SUV and surrounded a home Monday but determined the suspected shooter wasn't there. Authorities haven't named him or issued a description of him.

Authorities identified the slain girl as Jermani (JEHR'-muh-nee) Brooks. Her mother, 33-year-old Noni (NAH'-nee) Brooks, was hospitalized in fair condition.
