COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Prosecutors in central Ohio have filed a motion to prosecute a 16-year-old boy as an adult in the fatal shooting of his 14-year-old friend.
The high school freshman is scheduled to be in juvenile court in Columbus next week to face a delinquency count of murder in the Monday shooting of Terrico Henry.
Henry, who police initially said was 15, was shot in the stomach in the basement of the 16-year-old boy's home. He died later at a hospital.
Police said the boys were in the basement with several others. Another 16-year-old boy has been charged with tampering with evidence. Police say he concealed a handgun and fled when officers arrived.
The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1d5WF5g) reports that friends of the boys say they believe the shooting was accidental.
