DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Police say an Illinois man was fatally shot by a security guard at a southwest Ohio truck stop over the weekend.
Dayton police Lt. Wendy Stiver (STEYE'vur) said Monday that witnesses reported 48-year-old Goran Sojic was acting erratically prior to the shooting around 7:30 Sunday night at a Love's Travel Stop.
Stiver says witnesses report Sojic returned to the truck stop a few minutes after he was asked to leave and was running toward the security guard when he was shot. Stiver said there was no indication Sojic was armed.
Stiver says Sojic died at the hospital. The Montgomery County coroner's office said Sojic was from Naperville, Ill.
Oklahoma City-based Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores said in a statement that it is working with authorities.
