WESTERVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Police in north Columbus suburb of Westerville say an officer fatally shot a motorist who pulled a gun during an overnight traffic stop.
Westerville police Chief Joe Morbitzer said it happened at about 1:15 a.m. Monday when an officer pulled over a car on Polaris Parkway. Morbitzer said the driver exited the vehicle with a gun and was shot multiple times by the officer.
The man died later at a hospital. His name hasn't been released.
The woman passenger in the car was not injured, and there were no officers hurt.
