Central Ohio police shoot, critically hurt man

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police in central Ohio say officers shot and critically wounded a man who matched the description of a suspect in a carjacking and armed robbery.

Authorities say the shooting occurred during a confrontation in a garage Tuesday morning after an officer spotted the man in Columbus. Columbus police say a pellet gun and cash were found in the garage.

They say the injured man hadn't fired at officers.

Police didn't immediately confirm the man's identity.

They say he matched the description of a 37-year-old suspect sought in a morning carjacking in suburban Dublin and a subsequent armed robbery at a gas station.
