MT. VERNON, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio man has been sentenced to 15 years to life for killing an acquaintance by putting him in choke hold during a fight in February.
The Knox County prosecutor's office said 31-year-old Jedidiah H. Lang was sentenced Friday in Mt. Vernon in the death of 52-year-old Bradley Grosscup.
Lang admitted that, after a day of drinking, he got into a fight with Grosscup and ended up putting him in "sleeper hold." An autopsy report said Grosscup was asphyxiated.
Lang pleaded guilty to a murder charge as part of the plea agreement that saw other charges dropped.
Prosecutors said Grosscup allowed Lang and Amber Pilotti to stay at his apartment because they were homeless. Pilotti was convicted last week of related charges, including setting fire to the apartment.
