ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — A jury is expected to resume deliberating in a man's trial over the death of a woman found scorched and beaten on an eastern Ohio road.
Jurors considering 34-year-old LaFonse Dixon's case deliberated for several hours Wednesday without reaching a verdict. They were scheduled to return Thursday morning.
The Canton man has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, kidnapping and aggravated arson charges.
Two women also charged pleaded guilty and testified against Dixon. They said the trio took 29-year-old Celeste Fronsman to rural Muskingum County, where she was set on fire and abandoned in August 2012. A driver found the Canton woman, and she died two days later.
Defense attorneys say the women who testified are liars trying to save themselves. The Muskingum County prosecutor says Dixon is equally responsible.
