UPDATE: Pastor killed in riding lawn mower accident

ARLINGTON — The pastor of a Fostoria church was killed after being pinned underneath a riding lawn mower at 3:37 p.m. Thursday at 21935 U.S. Route 68, near Arlington, authorities reported.

Pronounced dead at the scene was Charles R. Turner, 53, of Dunkirk, according to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.

Turner reportedly was operating a Scag zero-turn riding lawn mower when the mower rolled down a ditch bank, pinning him underneath.

He served as pastor at Open Door Family Worship Center in Fostoria.

The accident remained under investigation Thursday.

Assisting at the scene were the Arlington Fire Department, Appleseed Emergency Medical Service, Hanco Ambulance, Hancock County Coroner's Office and Dick's Towing.
