COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio State Fair Sale of Champions livestock auction has raised a record $267,400 for youth scholarships and programs.
The auction on the fair's final day on Sunday included the sale of youth-raised chickens, lambs, pigs, cows, goats, fowl — and even Swiss cheese. This year's sale broke seven individual auction records.
Exhibitors keep some of the money, with the rest going to the fair's Youth Reserve Program. Since 1995, the program has awarded about 31,500 youth exhibitors almost $2.3 million.
