SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Activists for immigration reform that includes a path to U.S. citizenship plan to rally at one of the Ohio offices of the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Civil rights activists, labor leaders, religious leaders and other officials plan a Saturday afternoon rally at John Boehner's (BAY'-nur's) congressional office in Springfield, in western Ohio.
They want Boehner to push for immigration changes that include a "roadmap" for citizenship. They say in a statement that immigration reform will be good for Ohio's economy and for families.
Boehner and other Republican leaders in the House have been trying to decide how to move forward on immigration after the Senate passed a comprehensive bill that included a path to citizenship for 11 million people already in the country illegally.
