OH man pleads guilty in death; body left on tracks

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man has pleaded guilty to charges alleging he murdered a woman whose body was then left on railroad tracks to be struck by a train.

The Montgomery County prosecutor says 23-year-old Jamie Shaffer (SHAY'-fur) pleaded guilty Monday in Dayton to all charges in his indictment. The plea agreement calls for Shaffer to testify against 28-year-old co-defendant Joshua Sellers and be sentenced to life in prison without parole. Prosecutors originally sought the death penalty.

Both Miamisburg men were charged with aggravated murder, kidnapping and other counts. Authorities say 20-year-old Lisa Spinks, of Miamisburg, was stabbed in the neck Sept. 24, 2011. Her body was found along tracks in Miamisburg the next day.

Shaffer's attorney didn't immediately return calls Monday.

Sellers pleaded not guilty. His trial is Aug. 5.
