More than $1M in synthetic drugs seized in Ohio

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — Police say they have seized more than $1 million in synthetic drugs and more than $200,000 in cash in raids on businesses and homes in southwest Ohio.

Hamilton police said Friday that state and other area authorities helped as warrants were served on six businesses and nine homes in Hamilton and Butler counties on Thursday. Police arrested three people, but say the investigation is continuing and more charges are expected.

Police say they have been conducting a long-term investigation into trafficking in synthetic marijuana. They say they had received reports that people from other counties and states were driving to Hamilton to purchase the drugs.

Police say the Ohio Investigative Unit also issued administrative citations against liquor licenses, reflecting alleged violations including drug sales, drug possession and receiving stolen property.
