CHESTER TOWNSHIP — Troopers of the the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are currently investigating a rollover crash involving a tractor-trailer that occurred about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on State Route 73 about a mile west of Interstate 71.

Troopers report William F. Martin, 45, of Xenia, was operating an eastbound 2013 Freightliner on S.R. 73 when a strong wind gust caused him to lose control. The semi then went off the right side of road, struck a ditch and overturned onto its right side.

Mr. Martin, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported by Chester Township EMS with minor injuries to Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.

Chester Township Fire and EMS remained on the scene to make sure that no diesel fuel leaked from the vehicle. The Ohio Department of Transportation provided traffic assistance while the road was closed in order to remove the vehicle from the scene.

Alcohol and excessive speed do not appear to be factors in the crash, troopers report.

A citation for failure to maintain control is pending.
