AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Friends and family gathered to mourn and light candles in remembrance of a 16-year-old pregnant Ohio girl gunned down over the weekend.
The crowd gathered Monday night in Akron where Anna Karam and her unborn child died, and 19-year-old Jessica Halman was shot in the head. Police say Karam was baby-sitting early Sunday when 24-year-old David Stoddard came in the home by a back door and started firing.
Witnesses told WEWS-TV (http://bit.ly/XghVzU ) that Stoddard came looking for his ex-girlfriend, who wasn't there. Stoddard was arrested later Sunday morning at a motel. He pleaded not guilty in court Monday and is being held with a $250,000 bond.
Family members said Karam was four months pregnant. Halman was seriously injured, but there has been no new information about her condition.
