The Bellefontaine Middle School Mathcounts team of Dylan Cole, Sakura Kawakami, Adam Verbsky and Stephanie Salyer, placed third out of 12 teams at the regional Mathcounts competition Saturday in Lima.

Dylan and Sakura will be heading to state competition March 12 after their respective first place and third place finishes in the individual competition.

In addition, Adam Verbsky received eighth place in the individual round, and fellow BMS student Dacota Hollar finished 19th.

In the oral countdown round, Sakura took first place and Adam received fourth place.

The team is coached by Cathy Wiley and Mindy Zirkle, assisted by high school student and Mathcounts alumni, Greg Jameson.
