Snow-shovelving Chieftains

BMS Plow

Bellefontaine Middle School seventh-grade art classes recently collaborated for the Ohio Department of Transportation’s “Paint the Plow” contest by designing and painting an actual ODOT snowplow blade with a snow-shoveling Chieftain. Student Camren Hinkle was the lead designer for the snowplow blade, and fellow pupil Tucker Newland’s father, Paul, a 13-year ODOT employee, also spoke to the pupils at the start of the project. During the warmer conditions, the winning plow blades in the contest will be displayed in local parades, festivals and county fairs. Then once snowy weather blankets the region again, the painted blades will be attached to plow trucks to use on roadways near the school districts in which they were painted.
