State Senator Matt Huffman (R-Lima) recent visited with the junior and senior classes of Calvary Christian School, and encouraged the students to branch out and try new activities.
To demonstrate this idea, the senator assembled the students into a choir and had them sing a song.
“See, everybody can sing,” the senator said. “There’s nobody who can’t sing.”
He spoke also about success in spite of failures. Huffman related this to some of his own experiences in high school and asked the students how they plan to change the world around them.
Junior Jonathan Salmonowicz, replied, “I plan on becoming a teacher and making music on the side.”
The speaker also detailed some of his duties as a state senator, and encouraged the pupils to visit his office when they attend the Youth in Government event at the Ohio Statehouse in April.
