Approximately 75 students from Indian Lake, Benjamin Logan and Bellefontaine City schools recently participated in the third annual We Are the Majority Conference and Rally in Columbus to represent the thousands of youth who are the “majority” in being drug and alcohol free.
The Logan County Drug Free Youth Coalition helped to arrange the students’ trip to the rally hosted by the Ohio Youth-Led Prevention Network.
The local pupils joined about 1,800 students from across the state for a march to the Ohio Statehouse to share with lawmakers and public safety advocates. Participants also listened to various speakers and a concert by recording artist Mario.
We Are the Majority aims to combat the misconception that a majority of young people are making detrimental decisions that affect the rest of their lives. Research has continuously shown that a vast majority of youth are making positive, healthy choices to be drug and alcohol free.
