Memorial Hospital donates to Suicide Prevention Coalition

Memorial Hospital of Union County recently presented a $250 check to the Logan and Champaign Suicide Prevention Coalition as part of a fundraising effort of Memorial Hospital employee Amanda Stidam.

The donation will also benefit the Here 4 Hope Coalition of Union County.

For the fourth year, Stidam will run 26.2 miles this spring to raise funds to further the suicide prevention, education, and support services available locally. She is also working with the two groups to develop a special “Gatekeeper” training program for clinical staff at Memorial, helping them to treat and counsel suicidal patients, their loved ones, and patients at risk for self-harm.

Also present at the check presentation were Holly Zweizig with the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Union County, Molly Smith with the Logan and Champaign Suicide Prevention Coalition, and Dr. Victor Trianfo, chief medical officer at Memorial Hospital.
